Rapper T.I. was honored by the Georgia state Senate over the weekend for his positive impact on the community.
State lawmakers introduced a resolution applauding the rapper, born Clifford Harris Jr., for the work done by his nonprofit organizations Harris Community Works, which aims to help those who are disadvantaged, and For The Love Of Our Fathers, which works to help those with A*lzheimer’s d*isease.
The Atlanta native is credited with mentoring youths at area schools, delivering Christmas presents to local families in need and hosting turkey giveaways for Thanksgiving, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
T.I. has also donated time and money to a number of community efforts as part of his post-p*rison community service and has also gained attention for his activism in recent years.
In 2016, he joined hundreds in Georgia to p*rotest p*olice b*rutality against African-Americans.
T.I. also joined others last year in calling for a boycott of Starbucks after the coffee chain received b*acklash over the a*rrests of two black men in an i*ncident that was widely regarded as r*acially motivated.
