Rap legend Jay-Z stunned audience members with a timeless tribute to slain rapper Nipsey Hussle over the weekend.

Hov's tribute came on a historic night for music fans, reports Complex.


After nearly two years since closing its doors, the iconic New York music venue Webster Hall reopened Friday with Jay -Z's "B Sides 2" concert. The night was marked by good vibes and monumental reunions.

But the stand out moment for sure was the Nipsey tribute. The 49-year-old business mogul dedicated a freestyle to Nip's legacy and the need for others to change their communities.


Nip was g*unned d*own March 31 in front of his Marathon clothing store. Over the past few years, the s*lain 33-year-old made a name for himself because of his STEM a*dvocacy, community philanthropy and business moves.

Jay-Z used the hot-button issue of gentrification to channel Nip's message of community revitalization.



"Gentrify your own hood before these people do it / claim eminent domain and have your people move in," Jay-Z said. "That's a small glimpse into what Nipsey was doing / for anybody still confused as to what he was doing."

According to Billboard, Friday night's performance was the second "B Sides" concert — the first being in 2015. Dressed in a dapper black suit, Hov came out on stage at 10:30 p.m. to give fans a taste of his deep c*uts, such as "Young and Gifted," "Lucifer" and "Don't You Know." He reportedly performed 30 songs.

He was also joined by Nas, Cam'ron and Jim Jones of the Diplomats.



"The music I make is from my heart," said Hov around 1 a.m. "Right, wrong or indifferent. You know, I'm not a perfect guy. So the music I make is just me, of what I been through and what the people around me have been through. Even my flaws, I put them out there. You can learn from my flaws, or you can connect to my flaws. Maybe even take it further than when I'm trying to take it."

He wrapped his rousing performance with a smooth rendition of "Thank You," leaving fans with another unforgettable memory.
