Lauren London and all of Nipsey Hussle’s family have received a public apology from the Crips for making a move that had initially surprised and angered many of the fans of the late rapper and activist.
This week, an official, who represents Crips LLC, said they were wrong to try to attempt to take the now-famous slogan, The Marathon Continues, from Hussle’s loved ones.
After the sad passing of Hussle, the gang filed documents to trademark the well-known motto which is associated with the businessman and his clothing store, The Marathon.
The person, who spoke on behalf of the company, told The Blast, they were wrong and will not move forward with the legal process.
William King Hollis, who is the corporate communications director for the Crips LLC, explained: “There will absolutely be no trademark legal battle between their organization and Blacc Sam, brother of the late Nipsy Hussle and respectively vows to support the wishes of Lauren London and the Asghedom family.”
The statement went on to say: “We realize that our actions may have been offensive and we have reached out to his family, respectively Nips sister, Samantha Smith. We are deeply sorry for any disruptions and melee that the trademark acquisition may have caused to his family, friends, and fans.”
Hollis also revealed that the organization was talking to Hussle, before his untimely d*eath, and they were set to work together on a “mutual collaboration” for “The Marathon Continues” catchphrase.
Hollis confessed there was “no malice” when Crips LLC applied for the trademark and if necessary will turn it over to Lauren and the other members of Hussle’s family members.
Meanwhile, fans all over the world are praying for Lauren.
One of them stated: “Your strength shows and is admirable. Still, you have a lot of support for those days when you may feel a little less than strong. We are here, and we love you. 🙏🏼💙🏁”
Another follower said: “Kross’ little gestures toward you though @laurenlondon! Finger on the chin as in to say, mommy. Head up! Hand on the shoulder to say mommy I got your back! Daddy’s showing him well! #LLN”
According to documents, Hussle’s brother filed an application on May 28 to trademark “The Marathon Continues” for various uses, including entertainment services, music, and “charitable activities and the doing of good deeds for others and the promotion of ethical and character values.”
