It’s not quite the $2million payday Shane Warne received for his time in the jungle but Fiona O’Loughlin’s salary for less than seven weeks work wasn’t too shabby.
Any interview with Fiona O’Loughlin is always worth a listen.
Not only is she one of the funniest people in Australia but she is also very honest and very open.
Recently Fiona spoke to Tommy Dassalo and Karl Chandler on their podcast The Little Dum Dum Club where the comedian revealed the salary Channel 10 paid her for participating on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
Fiona was recounting a conversation she had with another winner, Brendan Fevola, during a ciggie break;
“I said “how good is it to be cashed up again, how good was the money?”
It was at this point Fiona revealed she received $120,000 for the first two weeks. This was then followed by a daily rate where she continued getting paid the longer she stayed in the jungle.
By lasting until the very end Fiona says she earned $150,000.
It was during her conversation with Fevola she found out he was on much, much more than her.
All Celebrities on the show are paid to appear with additional funds being used to support their chosen charity.
Cricketing legend Shane Warne has previously revealed he was paid $2million to appear in the series. In his book No Spin Warne reveals Channel 10 had previously approached him and his management told them he would do it for $2million.
According to Warne their reply was;
“That’s our budget for everyone”
A couple of years later Warne became interested in appearing and asked his manager to contact Channel 10;
I called James Erskine, my manager, who said he knew the main guy at Channel 10 and would speak to him again, which he did. Bingo! Next day, James rang to say we’ve got the $2 million! Oh shit! When you throw a big number out there, you’re not really expecting to get it; but now …
TV Blackbox has previously confirmed Warne never deviated from the original sum put to Channel 10. He was also given special privileges such as cigarette breaks and hair transplant work.
It’s not unusual for a range of sums to be paid to celebrities appearing in these programs. As revealed by TV Blackbox a casting call for Survivor promised an ‘out of pocket’ fee of $25,000 for the duration of filming. Each ‘champion’ would have negotiated a higher fee.
We are also aware cast members for IAC were paid $75,000 for their time in the jungle with others much lower at $30,000.
For seven seven weeks work, it’s not bad if you can get it!
