And this is how you get mauled.
The queen of bad ideas confronted the king of the jungle on Saturday when she climbed into a lion enclosure at the Bronx Zoo and taunted one of the big cats in a wild, caught-on-camera encounter.
The unidentified woman can be seen dancing and waving at the wild animal as though it were nothing more than a common house cat, according to video clips posted to Instagram.
Zoogoers on Tuesday questioned whether the woman belongs at the top of the food chain with the rest of the human race.
“I’m sorry, but that’s dumb,” Andrea Arndt said on Tuesday when shown the hair-raising video.
“Why would you do this? What drug was she on to make her dance around a lion like that? It may be a zoo, but it’s still a wild animal.”
Upstate mom Kelly Hawkins called the woman “bizarre.”
“Why would she want to do that? It’s dangerous,” she said, admonishing her kids not to repeat the behavior.
“Imagine something had happened and she’d been mauled in front of a bunch of little kids?”
Andres Rivera, a 22-year-old babysitter from Westchester, said it looked like the woman in the video “was asking for it.”
“The fence is there for a reason,” Rivera said. “I don’t know if you’ve seen the new ‘Lion King’ remake, but, spoiler alert, one of the lions is killed by another lion.”
Lucky for the woman, there was a roughly 15-foot moat between her and the lion meant to keep the razor-toothed cats from simply leaping out of their pen and wreaking havoc on the Big Apple.
Still, the zoo wasn’t exactly thrilled.
“This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death,” zoo officials said in a statement Tuesday.
“Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers.”
The zoo reported the feline caper to police — and told cops the woman also climbed into a giraffe enclosure, according to law-enforcement officials.
The zoo declined to provide details on the run-in aside from the statement.
But a pack of NYPD officers in golf carts was spotted stalking around the enclosure Tuesday — after videos of the close encounter went viral on social media.
For its part, the lion doesn’t seem that impressed. The male cat can be seen in videos calmly regarding the woman as she waves and dances to get his attention.
And the zoo has other problems besides humans climbing into its enclosures — a venomous mangrove snake has been on the lam since it slipped out of its cage Aug. 6.
Signs were spotted at the zoo warning guests that the 3-foot, tree-climbing serpent is still on the loose as late as Saturday.
And last week, animal-rights activist went to Bronx court to try and get another zoo animal freed from its cage.
The Nonhuman Rights Project is suing the institution, arguing that the zoo’s Happy the elephant is an “autonomous being” whose “liberty is being violated” by captivity.
