A popular belief goes that everything in life happens for a reason, and this American father and his adopted daughter sure knows a thing or two about that. The young lady, identified as DeLauren McKnight, will be donating one of her kidneys to her father. According to reports, DeLauren was surprised to learn she was a match for her father, Billy Houze, as they are not blood-related. Doctors said he would not survive beyond five years without a transplant after his kidneys began failing in 2016. Speaking in an interview, the father of five revealed he is extremely proud of his daughter. The Baptist pastor had this to say:
"She told me, 'Daddy, you thought you were saving my life pulling me from foster care, but in actuality you were saving my life so I could save yours later'."
Briefly.co.za learnt that when none of his relatives were donor matches, and doctors said it could take him seven years on the organ donation list to get a kidney. Then, in February this year, they tested Ms McKnight, whom Houze and his wife had adopted in 1992; and she was a perfect match.
DeLauren McKnight had this to say:
"I call him my Superman. There's nothing in this world I wouldn't give him so he can enjoy life and be right there beside me."
