RaNiya Wright was said to be a wonderful, well-loved student. But officials want to know how she sustained i*njuries in a classroom f*ight that resulted in her d*eath.

A South Carolina fifth-grader d*ied Wednesday morning after s*uffering i*njuries from a classroom f*ight two days prior, leaving her family and the school system looking for answers.

On Monday morning, RaNiya Wright, 10, was identified by her family after reports of her h*ospitalization began to circulate on the web.

The late child’s mother, Ashley Wright, took to Facebook to confirm the young girl’s d*eath. Her mother posted a photo of the late Wright smiling, along with the caption “As of 9:39 My baby girl has gain [sic] her wings.”

The u*nfortunate b*rawl between children took place at Forest Hills Elementary School in Walterboro, SC. According to details released in a statement by the Colleton County Sh*eriff Office to Yahoo Lifestyle, not long after a f*ight took place in Wright’s classroom, e*mergency m*edical services were called to the s*cene.

The Colleton County Sh*eriff’s Office stated that the 10-year-old was u*nconscious, but b*reathing, at the time e*mergency p*ersonnel arrived. She was soon airlifted from school grounds, and taken to the M*edical University of South Carolina for t*reatment, where she would later s*uccumb to her i*njuries.

The Superi*ntendent of the Colleton County School District (CCSD) released a statement to Wright’s family, on behalf of the district.

“Our community has s*uffered a tremendous l*oss. We are deeply s*addened that Raniya Wright, a fifth grade Forest Hills Elementary School Student, has p*assed away,” the statement started.

“We extend our heartfelt c*ondolences to the family. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with this family in the d*ifficult days ahead.”

The district remembered RaNiya as “a wonderful student,” while assuring the community that “The District is cooperating fully with l*aw e*nforcement as this matter is i*nvestigated.”

Wright’s cause of d*eath is pending an a*utopsy scheduled for Friday. In the meantime, the student involved in the f*ight has been s*uspended. It is unclear how the f*ight started or how many students were involved.
