Rapper Kodak Black was a`rrested on d`rug and w`eapons ch`arges as he t`ried to c`ross into the United States from Canada, say law enf`orcement o`fficials. Bill Kapri, whose stage name is Kodak Black, was driving two other people in a Cadillac Escalade with temporary California registration across the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge Wednesday evening, according to New York state police.
The men admitted to border agents they possessed m`arijuana and f`irea`rms.
Black, 21, was found with m`arijuana and o`fficers discovered a Glock 9mm p`istol in the vehicle, p`olice said. He was a`rrested on cha`rges of th`ird-d`egree c`riminal p`ossession of a w`eapon and unl`awful p`ossession of m`arijuana.
The two passengers in the E`scalade f`ace a w`eapons ch`arge. The driver of a second car, a Porsche, f`aces the same ch`arges as Black.
Black was a`rraigned in a town c`ourt and remanded to c`ounty j`ail with b`ail set at $20,000 cash or $40,000. He was in j`ail Thursday morning and it wasn't immediately clear if he had an a`ttorney.
Representatives at Black's record label and Live Nation didn't reply to emails seeking comment from The Associated Press.
Black's h`its include "Tunnel Vision," ''Wake Up in the City" with Bruno Mars and Gucci Mane, "No Flockin'" and "Zeze," which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard Hot 100 chart. His last album, 2018's "D`ying to Live," debuted at No. 1 on the charts.
The rapper has a long history of l`egal p`roblems, CBS Miami reports. He is f`acing a ch`arge in South Carolina of f`irst-d`egree c`riminal s`exual misc`onduct for a`llegedly r` aping a woman after a 2016 concert.
In August last year, Black was released from a Florida j`ail after spending seven months behind b`ars for numerous ch`arges. Then on January 18, he was a`rrested by Broward Sh`eriff's O`ffice deputies after posting an Instagram video a`llegedly showing him using m`arijuana and waving a g`un around r`ecklessly in front of a child, according to CBS Miami.
He was also j`ailed in Broward C`ounty, Florida, in June 2017 for v`iolating house a`rrest, stemming from a May 2016 a`rrest for a`rmed r`obbery, f`alse imp`risonment, p`ossession of a f`irea`rm by a d`elinquent and f`leeing or a`ttempting to elude law enforcement, CBS Miami reported. He was released from j`ail after s`erving 97 days of a 364-day s`entence after completing a voluntary life skills course.
