It is a well-known fact that Scientology tends to impact people’s lives in some profound ways occasionally, and it looks like even celebrities are not immune to that.
Tom Cruise, a known follower of the movement, has reportedly been prevented from seeing his daughter, Suri, whom he shares with Katie Holmes for several years now, and nobody knows what their relationship is like at the moment.
According to recent revelations, it might have been six years since Cruise last saw his daughter, and the main reason stated was his involvement with the Church of Scientology.
His daughter, Suri, is reportedly completely detached from Scientology and its beliefs, which was the main problem preventing her from getting any time with her action star father. The last photo of the two together indeed dates back to around 2013.
However, even the circumstances of that photo remain unclear, as some have speculated that it might have been a public set-up by the church in an attempt to draw some positive attention to the actor’s life.
Samantha Domingo, a former follower who exited the organization in 2004 and is the author of Je Suis, a Cult Whistleblower: Scientology Kills told Us Weekly: “Cruise is not allowed to have a relationship with his teenage daughter because she’s not a Scientologist.”
Talking about the photo, he explained: “Maybe he did it for a photo op, to make it seem like he was connected so he wouldn’t be criticized.”
Scientologists are believers in reincarnation, so their viewpoint is that “Suri’s not really his daughter — she’s just a spiritual being in his daughter’s body,” according to a member.
Cruise himself has been quiet on the issues surrounding Scientology, although that is hardly surprising to anyone.
The church has been known for its aggressive approach against anyone who speaks out against their practices, especially their former members.
A spokeswoman for the church said: “Everything about your inquiry misrepresents the Church of Scientology, its practices, and the lifestyle of its ministry.”
To that end, it might take a while until the media can actually get a statement from Cruise if that even happens at all.
In the meantime, speculations have continued to develop around him and his daughter, as many people suspect that there might be more to their damaged relationship than they are guessing.
