Zion Williamson, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, was the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and will call New Orleans home, much to the delight of all the Pelicans fans who were celebrating after the pick was made Thursday night.
And while this pick was pretty much a sure thing for months, Zion was still very emotional after hearing his name get announced by Adam Silver. Zion was in tears while praising his mom, who was standing by his side, for all that she has done for him to make this moment happen.
This interview with ESPN right after he was picked is pretty darn great:
Fans loved it.

I hope Zion balls out in the NBA, seems like a great and humble person based on the post-pick interview.

On a side note, Sean Payton might want to borrow him to play TE during the NFL playoffs.pic.twitter.com/KwE6DMc6JX
Was that @Zionwilliamson interview one of the best draft day interviews we have ever seen? Good Luck in NOLA kid. #NBADraft #NBA #Zion pic.twitter.com/xIN4kEBkQ1
