A video of a man completely asleep at the wheel of his Tesla on a highway while the car is on Autopilot goes viral.

A man fell asleep behind the wheel of his Tesla while it was on autopilot, and a couple caught him on video.

As the car passed the couple, they caught back up to the car tried to get the man to wake up.

The i*ncident happened on I-5 Santa Clarita Highway, California.

The couple managed to knock on their window loud enough to wake the man up, at which point the man jumped and took the wheel.

Here’s the video:

Clint Olivier, the driver who saw the video says he didn’t contact the po*lice because the driver woke up and regained control of the car.

Olivier told reporters:

“He was completely out – sound asleep. My wife was on her phone on Instagram or something and I said get off your phone and record this!”

The car was going down the 70-75mph highway with no one in control at the wheel, while not swerving and staying exactly in its lane.

Tesla’s website states that although the car does have Autopilot, it’s not the same as a Self-driving car:

“Autopilot is intended for use with a fully attentive driver, who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any time.”
